Senior Does

CH Poppy Patch LM Red Red Rose "Rose"
DOB 5/12/13

Rose is a beautiful red doe. She has a wide open escutcheon & lots of width between the hocks. Her topline & rump are almost completely level. She has nice width throughout her body, and correct feet & legs. She has a well attached, nicely shaped udder & is very easy to milk. She could use a bit more capacity, but her production as a second freshener has improved over her first freshening. I am hoping to see an increase in production as a 3rd freshener in 2017. Both of Rose's grand dam's are finished champions. Her sire's dam CH Poppy Patch HB Lady In Red has won 7 Best of Breed awards as a second freshening 2 year old. Rose won her Jr. GCH leg at the NWODGA show under judge Gary Whitehead, then won Best Jr. Doe in Show! There were 126 junior does shown in that ring. Rose finished her championship in 2016 as a 2nd freshening 3 year old. I was only able to attend one day of the very competitive NWODGA show and Rose won GCH in Kirt Schnipke's ring! She picked up her final leg with a GCH & BOB win at the Roseburg show under judge Scott Bice. She also won RCH in Scott Horner's ring at the Roseburg show. I was very excited about her finishing her championship, but what was the most surprising & impressive to me is her personality improvement - she has finally settled down & started behaving herself! Anyone who had met Rose prior to this year knows how big of an acomplishment that is! I almost sold her several times over the past couple years because she was such an obnoxious pain in the rear. She was very good this year - she didn't give me any trouble on the milk stand & was really well mannered in the show ring. We actually get along pretty good now, and this girl who used to be wild & crazy will even walk over to see me & give me kisses!

Poppy Patch BR Gypsy Rose Lee "Gypsy"
DOB 8/23/12

Gypsy is a beautiful doe with exceptional dairy strength. She is long & level. Those long legs make it easy to fit a milk pail under her when her udder is full, but unfortunately have also caused her to measure over height a couple times at shows. Overall I am very happy with her udder. She has very large well placed teats, a strong MSL and is really easy to hand milk. She could use a bit more height & width to her rear udder & could definately use some improvements in her attitude. She was one of my favorites as a yearling & was just a pleasure to be around, but has apparently entered the terrible two's this year! She has improved quite a bit after her 2015 kid went to his new home & I am hoping she will just behave herself all year next year.

Sapphire Moon BL Hazelnut "Hazelnut"
DOB 3/17/14

Hazelnut has the most dairy strength out of my 5 retained 2014 doe kids & is usually the judges favorite at shows.  She is sharp, long bodied and has a long elegant neck & long legs. She looks like a little Alpine. She also has a very mellow sweet personality. She is a bit narrow & could benefit from a little more width throughout her body, but overall I am very happy with her. Her dam Catarina was one of my smallest does, but my heaviest milker who could overflow a half gallon jar every day during peak production. Her sire's dam Rebel Sue has butter soft udder texture and milks out very quickly & easily. Sue is also my most difficult doe to dry up. Hazelnut is a great little milk goat like I expected. She has improved fore udder attachments & teat placement over her dam, but unfortunately no improvements in rear or lateral attachments. Paisano (sire of her 2016 doe kids) does have genetics for excellent rear udder height & attachments so I am hoping her -daughters will show improvement in that area. Her beautiful daughter Nutella is being retained.

Sapphire Moon ST Sienna "Sienna"
DOB 3/16/14

Sienna is sort of the black sheep of the family. She doesn't look or act anything like her blonde sisters Goldie & Camellia. Sienna is tame, but not overly friendly. She has sharp withers & blends smoothly. She moves very gracefully & looks like a little deer prancing around the field. Sienna is had a very easy time kidding, dispite having quads that were coming out in multiple wrong positions. Her first boy was breach & while I tried to get him repositioned so I could get his rear legs coming out Sienna pushed him out butt first. He was only 2 lbs so that probably helped. Next kid was about 3.5 lbs & popped out head first. Third little doe was around 3 lbs & came out feet first with her head rolled back (which is normally not a position does can deliver). I was trying to find the kids head to reposition her (it was tucked under her quite well!) when Sienna pushed & the kid came right out. Last buck was a big boy 4.25 lbs & was back legs first. All 4 came out with no trouble. I tried to reposition the ones that were really coming out wrong, but Sienna pushed them out so quickly on her own that there was no time for that. Sienna is a great milker, but doesn't have the rear udder height or lateral udder attachments needed for the show ring. Her daughter Willow, and her adorable little wethered boy Harley, will be retained.
